Just a deep thought.

Seeing how some Dream of buying coffee in their favourite place with bitcoins or purchasing the public transport ticket made me think most of us doesn't even really appreciate bitcoin and most of other cryptos.
We have so many use cases for bitcoin already. In higher levels the current fee doesn't really matter , and bitcoin transaction are way more popular for outside the country transactions. The fee is nothing in comparison with bank transfer fees and the security , speed and convince is amazing.
There are and WILL be many porjects that will attempt to be the adoption coin. Some of them will succeed and the you will buy your coffee with those. Bitcoin will still be safest of them .
Besides of that we are really in early state of crypto and yet we already solved some problems that we never could.
Trust me , decentralized Texas Holdem poker is really something that wouldn't be easy without blockchain. Most of players that are interested in that don't mind the fees because we are given many pros.
No, we will not buy groceries with bitcoin anytime soon. There are many use cases for it and more are coming daily. Don't focus on things that are pointless , instead try to look at the gamechangers.

Options for buying groceries (especially fresh produce/nuts) with Bitcoin?

I had been using my Bitcoin as a back-up for situations when I temporarily run out of national currency, and I'd found a couple ways to do it. But neither of those are available anymore. So I'm looking for new options. Probably online, since I'm going to be living in a small town in Maine starting very soon.
(My older options were using BitPay to buy gift cards on the Gyft app from Whole Foods. And using a raw vegan online store that sort of went out of business.)

I want to buy groceries in portugal with Bitcoin Cash

Has anyone had any success finding a scheme that lets you buy groceries from Pingo Doce, Intermarche, Lidl or other grocery stores in portugal?
I'm thinking gift cards/vouchers/pre-paid loyalty cards or whatnot that can be topped up with Bitcoin Cash.

[10k related] Are we witnessing history?

10k is not a small amount. 10k is A LOT.
This is like big news. So big that when Bitcoin hits 10k, people will take not just BTC but the whole crypto currency market seriously.
Hodlers will soon not be hodling and start using bitcoins daily. I can see myself buying groceries with bitcoin.
We really have to start using mBTC and satoshis as units.
Quick edit: sigh I guess I'm too optimistic. Guess this is just another day.

I bought groceries with bitcoin: a bitspend review

Buying groceries is, in my opinion, one of the primary indicators of a payment method's maturity. So naturally I was excited to see that Bitspend is making it possible for me to buy groceries with bitcoin. My regular grocery store offers online ordering and delivery service through My Web Grocer, though until now I have never used it since the physical store is just a couple blocks away.
Timeline of ordering process:
Total turnaround time: ~36 hours.
Pros:
Cons:
Overall impressions
I was generally very happy to be able to spend my coins on groceries, and most of the difficulties were tolerable and understandable for a 4-person startup in its second week of operation. Hopefully those difficulties will be ironed out soon though if Bitspend is going to maintain a professional image. I will likely do most of my grocery shopping this way in the future, as long as I can tolerate the turnaround time from order submission to receipt of goods. Most of the delays I experienced can be eliminated now that I know how things work.
edit 1: I received a response regarding the price estimation issue and email spam:
I can absolutely guarantee one thing--If we were charged LESS than whats on the invoice, we will send you a refund of the difference within seconds. If we were charged less, we did not know it. I am sure you can understand that we paid the invoice of --and we were nto told the price "might change"! We will look through our charges this evening and if we DO see that we were charged less we will notifyyou for an address to send the BTC back to.
As far as your email, we had NO IDEA you were getting those emails, they should NOT be going out--that was a test that was cancelled and it seems only a few people for some reason or another have the reply-email issue, our apologies--we;re looking into fixing it now.
Thanks, Justin
edit 2: Justin sent me another email offering to refund the $1.15 misestimation in price, even though he's not sure yet if it's Bitspend or MWG or the grocer who kept the profit. He is also refunding my $2.50 Bitspend fee. This kind of customer service is why I decided to use Bitspend in the first place!

An update from eGifter regarding the way we store passwords.

Hi again, bitcoin - you guys have kept us busy this week.
On Wednesday we added Walmart eGift Cards to our marketplace, allowing users to buy groceries with Bitcoin, as well as opening up a method to purchase gas with Bitcoin.
Yesterday, an astute redditor performed a "Forgot Password" request on our site and noticed that we were not using best practices for storing passwords for non-social logins (if a user did not sign in with Facebook, Google+ or LinkedIn). We rolled out this non-social login feature recently and did not give it the attention it deserved - as a result, we made a mistake in our implementation of password storage, by encrypting passwords with 3DES rather than hashing them. We set out to fix this immediately and did what any self-respecting tech team would do: pull an all-nighter and completely rewrite the way we manage user passwords.
We are now hashing passwords using bcrypt and keeping only the hash, consistent with modern day best practices. If you have forgotten your password, you'll be sent a link with a short-lived token allowing you to reset the password. We rolled this change out to our site and existing accounts earlier today.
We appreciate getting feedback like this from a tech-savvy community - your comments are continually helping to shape and improve our site and app. On top of that, you're giving us great ideas about what gift cards to add to our catalog, and we're actively pursuing more brands that we think you guys are going to love.
We take your privacy and security very seriously, and hope our quick turnaround in this situation restores some of the Bitcoin community's confidence in us.
Thanks for reading... we're going to get some sleep now.
